Years ago a gentleman by the name of Dr. John Ott developed indoor lighting that mimicked natural sunlight and named the light after himself by calling it an ott light. When Dr. John Ott realized that the best type of lighting for plants, animals, and humans was the natural sunlight, he then started on developing a special light that would give us these benefits. This light has become quite popular and is widely used. First used just as reading lights, it eventually started to be used within the home in lamps, ceiling fixtures, and in bathrooms.
When you use an ott light in your home you will immediately see results, as the light emitted from one adds clarity to colors and words. If you find yourself straining to read letters or documents under the yellowish color of a regular bulb, you will discover that under an ott light you will have better clarity and find yourself no longer straining your eyes. If used for reading purposes, typically this light is used in desk lamps, or a reading light. One ideal form of this light is when it is used in tiny clip-on reading lights used late at night when staying up past midnight to read a book. An ott light is also convenient for when you need to see the true color of items. So if you knit, or cross stitch, an ott light will bring out the true colors of your work. You will be able to see just how blue the sweater will be, or how colorful your current cross stitch project is. This special light is also useful while putting on your makeup, as it will show you the colors and hues being used. It would be ideal to install this light in your bathroom, or in your closet as it will bring out the true colors of your wardrobe. This type of lighting can also be installed in ceiling fixtures in your home, or in ceiling fans that require light. Because this light gives such clarity it will help to improve the look of your home. However if you have ott lights in your home and you are planning to repaint a room in your home, you will want to ensure that the color you choose is the right color for the room. In the home improvement store the color sample may appear like a great color, however once under the light in your home the color may become brighter, or bolder than the desired color of your choice. So prior to purchasing the paint, bring home several color strip samples to test in your room. Of course there is always the option of changing the bulb instead of the paint once it’s on, however there is a great benefit to having ott lights installed in your home. |
