Antler Lamp

Most western lighting comes adorned in a number of nature related items. These  may include bears, fish, elk, trout, buffalo, pine cones, and antlers (usually a deer antler lamp). There are also a number of themed western lamps which would be perfect for any sportsman or sportswoman. These include light fixtures decorated with croquet, snow shoes, bows, arrows, fishing reels, fishing tackle, and even boat paddles.

Fixtures like antler lamps are great additions so any type of country cabin, farmhouse, or mountain house. However, if you are a fan of the western style feel free to introduce these décor items into your everyday style. Wagon wheel chandeliers and tin punch lighting are also perfect options for turn of the century decorating style. 

Although chandeliers are a popular way to go, antler table lamps are a twist that can liven your western styled space and be a little more subtle at the same time. An antler floor lamp will do the same when you're looking for something a little less obvious.

The first type of lighting fixture is a bear lamp or chandelier. Bear lamps usually depict a scene with a bear in it. For example scones might feature bears in the water catching fish etched into a brush bronze lamp base. You might also find bears climbing trees, or walking in a pine tree forest. Bears are usually depicted in three dimensions like on a base of a lamp or in one dimension like being painted on a lamp shade.

While painted bear scenes are nice, scenes which are carved into metal are much more durable.
Most bear lighting fixtures have lamp shades made out of fake leather, which offers the final touch to the outdoor feel. However, nothing can quite compare to antler lamps.

In addition wagon wheel chandeliers are also popular. Most people who buy antler lamps are also interested in wagon wheel lighting fixtures. The main concern with this type of lighting is that it is extremely heavy and needs to be installed by trained professionals. 

Antler lamps come in two varieties – reproductions or the real thing. Many hunters will have their own deer antler lamps made from deer which they killed during the hunting season. If you happen not to be a hunter, you can purchase lamps at your local home improvement store.

Authentic antler lamps, which are purchased in the store, are made from found antlers. Therefore, no harm was done to any animal in the process of making the lamp. Antlers can be collected along deer trails during the time when annual shedding is going on. Most authentic antler lamps cost a great deal more then reproductions, be they antler table lamps, antler floor lamps, or antler chandeliers. Reproductions are made from molds of actual antlers. Fake antler lamps are also much more lightweight.
