Christmas Lights Video

Christmas Lights Video and Other Inexpensive Goodies

A Christmas lights video is a great and inexpensive way to start off the holiday season. The holidays can offer great joy and even greater debt. However, there are a  number of low costs way to celebrate the season without breaking the bank.

One such way is to choose a winter night, sometime in the first week of December, and go out looking at houses decorated with Christmas lights. Make sure you bring  your video camera and let the kids shoot their very own Christmas lights video. While this costs very little money kids love to create memories and be part of the action.

There are a number of great ways to infuse the spirit of Christmas without going broke.  Here are a few:

Sing - Make your own Christmas carol album with a tape recorder and your kids. Then play the album while you are doing cooking, cleaning, or baking – this especially fun when making Christmas cookies.

Read - Find and read Christmas related stories. A story night accompanied by a treat, like hot chocolate and candy canes, costs very little but it is something your kids will remember forever.

Volunteer – One of the best things you can do with your family, that will create a lasting holiday memories, is to volunteer. Local church groups, women's shelters, and soup kitchens are always looking for help, especially around the holidays. Feel free to share your Christmas lights video with people who may not have the chance to go on their own Christmas adventures.

Craft – Use crafting paper and scrape book accessories to create your own personalized ornaments for the Christmas tree. Like making the Christmas lights video, this can be a lasting tradition that your kids will pass down to their children

Give Thanks – While giving thanks is usually associated with Thanksgiving, we rarely ever give thanks to the people we hold close and care about. Have the family create hand made thank you cards for each other to be opened on Christmas morning. Teaching children how to appreciate what they have and how valuable their families are is a lesson they will thank you for in the future.

Bring the Snow Indoors – Creating snowflakes is a great way to spend a cold winter evening. All you need to do is cut circles out of white paper, fold like a piece of pie, and snip pieces away. Unfold and look at your new creation! This makes great decorations for windows and doors.  Another great idea is to make snowballs, wrap them in tin foil, and save them for the summer.

Movies – There are a ton of classic holiday movies – both dramas and comedies. Set aside time a couple nights of week in the month before Christmas and watch your favorites. Renting from a local library is a great way to save money and still have fun.

This holiday season do not be afraid to let your creative side show.  Whether you are making your very own Christmas lights video, cookies, or thank you cards – just do it! Spending time with your family is the single more important and memorable activity you can do during the holiday season and all year through. For those of you creating a Christmas lights video you may consider using movie editing software and splicing in some Christmas tunes.
