It should feel comfortable and intimate. Try placing strings of Christmas lights on the tops of your cabinets behind the decorations. You can also place Christmas lights on the underside of  your cupboards to let the kitchen have a soft glow when the overhead lights are not in use. Even the drapery swags can be decorated with these lights. It will create an intimate, comfortable, yet formal space that your family and visitors will enjoy.

Bedroom canopies are a great place to tuck away lights. Under the bed,  mounted against the bed frame, can create a floating bed look – which is both fun and romantic. The bedroom should be a place of relaxation and the soft glow of white lights can be just the thing to warm up bedroom décor.

The outside of your house should not be ignored when it comes to decorating with lights. Certainly gardens and patios are a great place to have Christmas lights. Try trimming your garden paths with lights and enjoy the darkness. This will make your backyard into a whimsical playground as the sun sets.

Fireplaces and mantels in the living room are a great place for Christmas lighting, the whole year through. Interspersed with with greenery, hidden behind firewood, tucked up under the mantel, or weaved into a wreath which sits above the fireplace are all great examples how to utilized Christmas lighting.
