Candle Chandelier

Candle Chandelier Buying Tips

In the right setting, the candle chandelier can be one of the most admired and talked about lighting fixtures in the home. The image that comes to mind is one of wrought iron, delicately curved to hold candles that provide a soft light in the room. This traditional candle chandelier is certainly one choice that will attract attention from your visitors.

The prices for candle chandeliers vary as much as the designs. For example, a hand-painted small chandelier that uses candle-shaped electric fixtures is available for around $200. However, if you want a larger chandelier, perhaps one with a wood body and six slim arms to hold the candle fixtures, you should plan to spend about twice that much. A more contemporary design is available too. This style is made of wrought iron, but the lines are straighter and the “candle” light is softened by glass shades. This new style is offered for $500 to $600 dollars. If you are looking for such features as teak wood, crystal, and hand painting, the cost can be considerably more.

Among the dozens of candle chandeliers available are those that feature crystal, usually as pendants suspended beneath six upswept arms that hold the candle fixtures. Another style that is accented by hanging crystal is the flat black metal chandelier with floral holders for the six candles. This design features a centerpiece of rope-like metal. Though they may seem elaborate by description, most of these candle chandeliers are quite affordable, starting around $200.

For those who would rather have the brightness of brass instead of wrought iron, several companies offer candle chandeliers of polished brass. One very affordable three-light chandelier has upswept arms extending from the shaped center piece. A similar style features brushed nickel and five curved arms that end in very solid round bases for the “candle” fixtures.

Of course, if your tastes run to the natural/Colonial style, you can also find chandeliers designed specifically for real candles. Several companies offer candle chandeliers that hang by decorative but quite solid chain. The body of the chandelier is usually rustic iron and holds up to nine large, very real candles. Owners of log homes and those who have rooms decorated in natural wood sometimes choose this “back to nature” style. Along the same line as this rustic chandelier is the formal design, with slim, sweeping arms to hold six thin tapers.
